San Francisco Sky

You know those time lapse videos with clouds blowing across the sky?  That’s a common event in San Francisco, and one my favorite things about the city.

I took a few videos and spliced them together. This is all taken with a mediocre cell phone camera, sorry, but it’s all played back in real time.

I get stuck at corners a lot, staring up at the sky.

Mirrored from Amberdine.

Cool. Very pretty.

That would make a great first line in an autobiography of a famous astronomer.

Those are some fast-moving clouds!

Very pretty.

They do move fast! It can be disorienting. Or I suppose I could stop looking up as I walk around, but what's the fun in that?

Very nice!

Tucson gets thunderclouds in the summer -- amazing to watch on timelapse, as they boil up from a wisp to mountainous pillars.

Oh yes, I love time lapses of thunderstorms! That's why I think it's so neat to see something similar happening live. Except these somehow dissolve just as fast as they build up. It's a little strange.

That was so lovely!

Yay! Glad you liked it. I'll try to use a real camera one of these days.

If you're interested, this is a much better example:

(This is time lapsed, but it shows how the edge of the fog seems to perpetually flow in, especially around 1:05.)
